Earache Records label discography
Earache Records was founded by Digby Pearson in Nottingham in 1987. The label became the home for many of the leading exponents of the Death Metal and Grindcore genres including Napalm Death, who have been widely credited with the invention of the scene in the first place. Their first LP, Scum, was released on the label as MOSH3, and to the surprise of many was championed by Radio 1 DJ John Peel. He subsequently invested airtime in other notable acts such as Carcass and Bolt Thrower, and the label went from strength to strength throughout the 90's. Unfortunately they decided to more or less do away with vinyl releases after 1997; whilst there are a few after catalogue number 175, we have drawn a line at that point - but CD only releases up until that number are included. Perhaps they realised their error in 2002 when many of the label classics were reissued again on vinyl - these have also been noted.
